Welcome to
The Go Hard Ranch

The Ranch is a place like no other, a landscape shaped not only by powerful natural energy, but by the stories and hands of the three generations who have called it home. First known as the Rehn’s Ranch, this land was built from the ground up by a hardworking family whose legacy still lives in every structure, trail, and tradition. Today, as Go Hard Ranch, it proudly carries that history forward, honouring its roots while welcoming new memories to be made.

Much of the Ranch’s layout remains a testament to the Rehn family’s way of life. The wash house and cook house stand as living reminders of the era when the ranch operated alongside a bustling sawmill, a time when community, craftsmanship, and self‑sufficiency shaped daily life. These buildings offer visitors a glimpse into the authentic rhythm of the ranch’s history.

Our authentic tipis carry a lineage of their own, created in connection with the Métis Callioux line. Their artistry and heritage bring cultural depth and meaning to every stay, weaving another thread into the story of this land.

The Ranch looks out over Chip Lake, one of Alberta’s great forgotten waters, wild, wide, and quietly stunning. Just 15 minutes off the Yellowhead near the Hamlet of Wildwood and about an hour from Edmonton, it’s close enough for an easy drive, yet far enough that the world slips away the moment you arrive.

Go Hard Ranch isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a rare Alberta experience. With handcrafted cabins, authentic tipis, lakeside views, and wide‑open foothills, the ranch offers a getaway that feels grounding, peaceful, and unforgettable. Whether you’re planning a weekend escape, a family adventure, or a wedding surrounded by natural beauty, this land invites you to slow down, reconnect, and feel the freedom of true Alberta ranch living.

Chip Lake

The name of the lake has shifted through the years, and many believe it originated from the buffalo chips once scattered along its shores—remnants of the great bison herds that roamed the region long ago.

Chip Lake is home to an exceptional diversity of duck species, surpassing most other lakes in Alberta. It’s also well‑known for its thriving Northern Pike and Burbot populations, drawing anglers from far and wide, especially during the winter ice‑fishing season. Thirteen named islands dot its waters—Archie’s, Big, Blue, Gravel (Seagull), Raspberry, Hat, Heron, Last, Leaf, Little, Long, Poplar, and Spud. Spanning an impressive 73 square kilometers, the lake is truly a natural giant.

Just north of the Ranch runs the historic Jacques Pack Trail, believed to have been a vital route for settlers and trappers traveling between Edmonton and the Peace River region. Over the years, numerous arrowheads have been found near this trail. Stories passed down through generations, along with signs around the lake, reveal that Chip Lake once served as a gathering place, home, hunting ground, resting point, and ceremonial site for Indigenous peoples.

Today, Chip Lake remains one of Alberta’s hidden treasures. Its vast size and island‑rich ecosystem make it feel like an unofficial bird sanctuary. Pelicans, bald eagles, hawks, peregrine falcons, cranes, cormorants, ducks, hummingbirds, and countless other species frequent the area, many of them right around the ranch. For a truly magical experience, visit the lake at dawn between 6 and 7 a.m. or return in the evening to hear the haunting, unforgettable call of the loon.
